Abstract

Petroselinum crispum, Eruca sativa, Apium, Lepidium, and Allium porrum leaves were collected from various locations (Al Kadhimiya and Al Abasyasites, North of Baghdad City, Middle of Iraq) for this study. The concentrations of uranium and transfer factors (T.F.) in the soil and leaves were measured. Twelve soil samples were examined for uranium concentration using a technique based on Solid State Nuclear Track Detectors (SSNTDs) CR-39. Uranium concentrations ranged from 5–43 ppm in the plant samples, and the transfer factor was calculated for them (0.28–0.64).
